Porcelain Veneers

A man with porcelain veneers from Jordan Landing Dental

Porcelain veneers involve placing an ultra-thin covering over the outside of the tooth. Veneers are usually only placed over the front part of the tooth that is visible while talking or smiling.

We design dental veneers with highly aesthetic porcelain or pressed ceramic. Veneers are one of the most effective ways to improve all kinds of minor smile flaws.

Direct and Indirect Veneers

We can provide you with either direct or indirect dental veneers at Jordan Landing Dental Care. But which would best fit your dental needs and lifestyle?

Direct Veneers | The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method may also be called dental or cosmetic bonding. To learn more about direct veneers, you can see our dental bonding page.

Indirect Veneers | Indirect veneers usually involve two appointments because the veneers are fashioned in a dental lab. During your first visit, the dentist will prepare the teeth, take impressions, and give them a temporary covering. At your second appointment, your dentist will remove the temporaries and bond the beautiful new porcelain veneers to your teeth.

Dental Veneers or Dental Crowns?

Patients who have teeth that are structurally damaged may benefit more from full-coverage dental crowns. Crowns will rebuild the teeth and restore their full bite capacity.

For patients without advanced structural damage, porcelain veneers may be the better option. Veneers require less removal of the natural tooth, and the procedure is surprisingly comfortable. Not only that, but porcelain veneers are incredibly strong and durable when taken care of properly.

Dental veneers can correct:

  • Teeth with large fillings
  • Worn down teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Teeth with poor shape or size
  • Misalignment issues
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth

If you’re concerned some teeth don’t bring out the best of your smile, they may be easily corrected with porcelain veneers. Some people call veneers “instant orthodontics” because they can reverse some crookedness and gaps—no braces necessary! Other people with hard-to-whiten teeth find porcelain veneers the perfect way to permanently brighten their smile.
